In February AusAgriTech, a member-driven organisation representing Agritech nationally, held the National Agritech Summit 2022. The Summit speakers and panel discussion discusseed the the need for an efficient and coherent national strategy for the growth of the agritech sector, as well as adoption of commercial technologies.
Agritech is a standalone sector which applies technology to the agri-food supply chain, energy, water, sustainability, environment, climate and emissions reduction. The technology developed and commercialised by the Australian agritech sector will be critical in Australia reaching its ambitions for productivity, sustainability, digitalisation, jobs growth and emissions reduction. Australia’s leadership in other sectors e.g. mining can be replicated in the agritech sector creating high value jobs, revitalising the regional economy and leverage Australia’s R&D capabilities to develop a new export sector.
Innovation Cluster Managing Director Tash Teakle was asked to contribute a short video focusing on Western Australian Agritech for their series ‘State of the Nation’ to be played at the Summit.
