Consultation for proposed 2025-26 Declared Pest Rates

2025-26 Survey

Survey Closing Date: Midnight Thursday 22 May (AWST)

Each year the Minister for Agriculture and Food consults on the proposed Declared Pest Rates for the following financial year. Consultation requirements are set in section 130 of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act (2007), and the Minister consults by inviting comment on the proposed rates in accordance with the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management (Declared Pest Account) Regulations 2020 (DPA Regulations). The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) administers the consultation process.

This survey will be the Minister's primary means of consultation for the proposed 2025-26 Declared Pest Rates outlined in the Public Notice. Alternatively, you can provide a response by email or post with details outlined in the Public Notice.

This 5-minute survey is a great opportunity for you to contribute to the understanding of how the community views the Declared Pest Rate. All survey responses are voluntary, anonymous and will be confidential. All responses will be compiled and analysed as a group and provided to the Minister for Agriculture and Food for consideration before determining the 2025-26 Declared Pest Rates and any related matters. You can open the Public Notice to refer to while you complete this survey: VIEW PUBLIC NOTICE

The Declared Pest Rate

Under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act (2007), the State raises a Declared Pest Rate from landholders in prescribed local government districts, and matches the funds raised from the rate dollar-for-dollar. The combined funds are made available to Recognised Biosecurity Groups, who provide support to landholders to manage widespread and established declared pests. Landholders also have a responsibility under the Act for controlling declared pests on their own land.
