It was an inspiring day in the regions at the South West’s newest event destination Sabina River Farm where ground-breaking sustainability solutions were unveiled with presentations and panels, connecting and networking.
Thank you to Wadandi and Bibbulmun cultural custodian Josh Whiteland from Koomal Dreaming for his Welcome to Country and didgeridoo music performance.
MC for the Summit, writer, producer and director Myles Pollard, led a day of exploring future industries for the regions including Blue Economy in high value, regenerative, circular, tech driven ocean innovations: an ecosystem orchestration platform; marine-specific innovation driven consultancy; and seaweed solutions to climate change.
The theme of Creative Tech for Sustainability included presentations on an energy management platform for consumers control, insight, and rewards; Web 3 platform for creativity, commerce and collaboration; an app to tackle food waste; and incredible innovations in virtual production.
In the last theme – Sustainable Agriculture – we heard about transparency in supply chains, a platform connecting brands to impact via customer engagement, hydrogen production from biomass waste, and utilising organic waste streams to create energy and by-product.
Next the attendees enjoyed grazing boards and delicious beverages provided by West Australian businesses Eagle Bay Brewing Co and Hippie whilst networking and visiting booths for businesses who were a part of the CONNECT Sustainable Industries program.
The Innovation Summit was made possible by sponsors Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation through the New Industries Fund – X-Tend WA Program, and event supporters City of Busselton, Creative Tech Village, and Doral.
