Wowsers — we are already halfway through the 2025 Harvest Agtech Accelerator Program, and our cohort has been soaking up knowledge, building valuable connections, and exploring cutting-edge agricultural innovations.
The fourth instalment of the program saw us hit the road for a site tour of CBH’s Australian Grain Centre (AGC) on Monday, 11 August 2025.
Our generous host, Sean Webb, Manager of Innovation and Partnerships at CBH Group, led the Harvest cohort through the day, joined by Ashleigh Roberts (Innovation Cluster GM), Peter May, Tam Newsome, and Michael Schmook from DPIRD Investment Services.
Tour Highlights
- CBH’s Australian Grain Centre Overview — exploring one of WA’s most important hubs for grain quality, research, and innovation. Learn more
- Blue Lake Milling Tour WA — a behind-the-scenes look at oat processing and supply chain excellence. Learn more
- Machine Learning & AI in Action — seeing firsthand how these technologies are driving smarter decision-making in grain handling.
- IoT Sensors in the Supply Chain — understanding how real-time data supports key business functions.
- Networking over Lunch — sharing insights and making new industry connections.
The day gave our cohort a deeper appreciation of how innovation is being embedded across the grain industry — and sparked plenty of ideas for how their own ventures can harness similar approaches.

"The whole tour was fascinating and I enjoyed each part. I have worked with mills in the past but none as big as Blue Lake Milling, so that was interesting for me and also beneficial as I was able to get direct, reliable information about where their by-product goes and how they fit into the supply chain. However, the part I enjoyed most was actually learning about how CBH developed their automated visual grading system. The realities, timeline, cost, and path to adoption. This was invaluable to understand the potential pitfalls and necessary back up plans required to introduce new tech into a very established way of doing things."
