Austrade’s Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program helps Australian businesses grow their exports in international markets.

These grants encourage small to medium enterprises to market and promote their goods and services globally. This is a matched funding grant program, where you must matchthe dollar value of the grant monies you receive.

Each year the Government allocates a set amount of money for EMDG. Round 4 is yet to be announced and some changes to previous rounds have been advised, however as an example, max grant amounts for Round 2 were as follows:

  • Tier 1 – up to $10,000 per financial year (for up to 8 years)
  • Tier 2 – up to $18,000 per financial year (for up to 8 years)
  • Tier 3 – up to $28,000 per financial year (for up to 8 years)

Applications for Round 4 are likely to open in late 2024 and you can subscribe for updates by ticking the ‘EMDG update box’ here:  Subscribe to Austrade newsletters | Austrade

How we can help?

The EMDG is eligibility-based (not competitive) so it is crucial to verify your eligibility and provide sufficient supporting documentation to secure the funding. AgriStart can support you to prepare your application for the best chance of success. We will work with you to check your business/product is eligible and that you comply with all relevant guidelines. We can co-develop your plan to market, one-page statement, budget and strategic roadmap which are all crucial to confirm your eligibility for grant.

If you are interested in accessing our support to help secure this EMDG funding, please reach out to learn more about how we can help you determine your business goals, success measures, target market, promotional activities and expenditure for the program.
